How science is communicated can widen the scope of collaboration that results in many scientific discoveries. It plays an important role in informing policymakers and other experts about how science is advancing. However, if in this communication the rigour is not present, instead of benefit it can cause loss of trust in science. With this program, we aim to create conversations that widen the reach of science without weakening its rigour.

Cancer Immunology & Oncology
I am a cancer immunologist by training and a science communicator by growing conviction. My PhD was four years of watching immune cells and tumour cells negotiate in ways that no press release would ever describe accurately.
I have since worked in pharmaceutical oncology, crossed three European borders for science, and become quietly obsessed with the moment in a scientific conversation when something genuinely surprising happens and nobody captures it. Burstcast exists to capture it. That is why I am here!
Vascular & Developmental Biology
I am Giuseppina Lambiase, an Italian biotechnologist from Naples with expertise in vascular and developmental biology. I began my scientific training at the University of Naples Federico II and completed my PhD at the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2025, where I studied vascular remodeling processes using zebrafish as a model.
I am fascinated by vascular biology and by studying how vessels form, adapt, and respond across different contexts, including development, regeneration, aging, and disease.

Psychology & Neuroscience
Livia Svenvold McPhee is a researcher and writer with a background in psychology and neuroscience from Hamilton College. As an undergraduate, she studied neural development in children and cognitive decline in patients with Alzheimer's disease. After graduation, she worked at Columbia University studying the impact of stress on cognitive development in Puerto Rican youth.
Now based in Bordeaux, France, she plans on continuing to study age-related cognitive decline and preventative public health policy. Her move from the United States to France also sparked an interest in cross-cultural psychology and linguistics, which she explores through independent writing on Substack.

I have a background in Molecular Biology and Genetics. My work sits at the intersection of experimental biology and computational thinking, with a focus on making sense of biological data through structured and systems-based approaches.
I’m interested in how scientific ideas connect across disciplines and how these connections can be shaped into clearer conceptual models. I am particularly drawn to science communication as a way of translating complex biological patterns into accessible narratives.
